Everyday Chinese Cooking Class March 9

I am really excited for our next cooking class, The Everyday Chinese Cooking Class on Thursday, March 9, 2017, 6:00 - 9:30 pm at the Holy Nativity Community Hall. If you like authentic Chinese food, you will not want to miss this one. We will be making recipes from my new friend, Katie Chin's Everyday Chinese Cookbook: 101 Delicious Recipes from My Mother's Kitchen. Everything I've tried from her cookbook is super easy to make and tastes so authentic.

These are authentic recipes from Leeann Chin's popular Minneapolis restaurants, where my family ate regularly. I met Katie when we were assigned to be roommates at a food bloggers camp a few years ago. We soon discovered that we both grew up in Minneapolis, and then I realized that Katie was the daughter of the famous Leeann Chin, a celebrity with my family.

Katie launched the Everyday Chinese Cookbook last year and will hopefully be on hand to autograph her book that you can purchase for $25 at our Cooking Class. It's filled with photos and wonderful memories honoring her mother, in addition to tantalizing photos of the recipes you will want to make.

Here’s what we will be making at the Everyday Chinese Cooking Class:

  • Shrimp Potstickers - learn how easy it is to pleat the dumplings
  • Sichuan Tofu with Broccoli
  • Lemon Chicken - Leeann Chin's signature dish
  • Dan Dan Noodles with Ground Turkey
  • Chocolate-Raspberry Wontons - made with Nutella

Patricia K. Rose, of Fresh Food in a Flash, will lead this hands-on cooking class on Thursday, March 9, 2017, 6:00-9:30 at the newly remodeled Holy Nativity Community Hall in Westchester. Once we complete the cooking, sit down and enjoy a meal you and your new friends made together with a glass of wine.

Cooking Class fee $50 when you reserve by March 6, $60 thereafter if space available. To reserve your spot, email [email protected]. Classes take place at Holy Nativity Community Hall, 6700 West 83rd Street, Westchester, CA 90045.

RM2-CODA Meeting (Penciled In for Now)

Saturday, May 27, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

5-8-19: BK spoke with Norma from CODA (310) 990-1617. Norma will call us on Tuesday, May 14, to confirm whether they want this room on Saturdays starting May 25. She needs to discuss it with a few people first but asked me to pencil in this first start date. For now it will be temporary for the next 3-4 months. We explained that the time will have to be 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. to give the prior group time to leave. CODA's group averages 20-30 people per week. We also explained to her if something comes up where we need the room that we will provide her with plenty of notice. She asked about the donation. Quoted her $50 a week minimum. 5-14-19 Norma called and wants to meet here starting on May 25 for 3-4 mos. She or her co-secretary Jared will pick up a key for RM2 prior to May 25.
