Autumn Harvest Cooking Class October 13

The crisp days of Autumn harken to a cuisine that brings us back to home. After the wild days of summer, we want some true comfort food. The heat of the summer produces wonderful fruits and vegetables that we can put to work in creative ways. That’s the theme of this month’s Autumn Harvest Cooking Class on Thursday, October 13 at the Holy Nativity Community Hall.

Ripe pears, pumpkin and winter squash, corn, bell peppers, cranberries and more inspire this meal that we will make together. At home, these dishes can be made separately for an easy weeknight meal.

Come join us for a delicious array of Autumn flavors including one of my favorite treats – a Pumpkin-Apple Chutney that you can make from the Halloween Jack-o-lantern.

Here’s what’s on the menu:

  • Cornbread with Green Onions and Parmesan Cheese
  • Butternut Squash and Cranberry Quinoa Salad
  • Roast Turkey Breast with Pumpkin-Apple Chutney
  • Mamacita’s Vegetarian Stuffed Peppers
  • Pear and Dried Cherry Cobbler with Ginger-Chocolate Chip Biscuit Topping

Sign up today and experience this delicious Autumn Harvest meal on Thursday, October 13.

Patricia K. Rose, of Fresh Food in a Flash will lead this hands-on cooking class on Thursday, October 13, 2016, 6:00-9:00 at the Holy Nativity Community Hall in Westchester.

Cooking Class fee is $50 when you reserve by October 10, $55 thereafter if space is available. To reserve your spot, email [email protected]. Cooking Classes are held at the newly remodeled Holy Nativity Community Hall, 6700 West 83rd Street, Westchester, CA 90045.

C-ZEN Circle

Wednesday, August 17, 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Zen is an ancient tradition; yet it's a living one that is constantly evolving. Here in the information-saturated world of Los Angeles, we are applying the underlying principles of Zen to our busy lives. The Westchester Zen Circle meets each Wednesday evening to practice Zen meditation (zazen) and mindfulness. In the spirit of Collective Awakening, we also explore the fundamental questions of life through group discussion and koan study with our teacher, Sensei Kipp..
