Who We Are

About Holy Nativity

Holy Nativity Episcopal Church was established during World War II as a place for the burgeoning neighborhood to gather on Sundays for family worship. A strategic center for the war, the Westchester neighborhood in which we are situated was rapidly growing and changing. Now more than 75 years later, the neighborhood is once again rapidly growing and changing, and so is Holy Nativity. Truly a neighborhood church, Holy Nativity serves as a hub for all sorts of community happenings – from a community garden and a lively pocket park, to a yoga studio, a jazz meetup group, and monthly cooking classes (and much more!), Holy Nativity is a community treasure and resource center for the spiritual needs and daily lives of our neighbors. We are diverse, outward-looking, and socially engaged. Holy Nativity is a warm and caring community of people who come together not only to worship on Sundays but to celebrate and share their traditional, progressive, and unique spiritual paths and journeys.

With its roots in the past, service in the present, and eye to the future, Holy Nativity is truly a church for the 21st century. We hope you’ll stop by: work the garden, take a yoga class, hear a concert, play in the pocket park. Most of all, we invite you to join us in worship on Sunday mornings at 8 and 10:30 am; all are welcome here. We hope you’ll come experience this special community firsthand. We’re waiting for you with open arms and eager hearts.
